Boards are becoming increasingly interested in how their fund complexes are using social media and should be asking tough questions about the policies and procedures in place. While directors are not responsible for oversight of marketing and advertising at their fund complexes, the use of social media carries with it compliance and reputational risks that are important to trustees, according to Maryann Bruce, an independent director for Allianz Funds.
